About 3km west of the entrance of the ruins of Chichen Itza is the Cenote Ik Kil (entrance €4), in a beautifully landscaped garden. They have changing rooms and lockers for your stuff.

The cenote has been developped into this wonderful pool. It is open-air too, so you can look at the sky while swimming in it. The water is totally clear and not cold at all. A refreshing stop after Chichen Itza. 

As you can see on the pictures, on the right, there is a jumping spot, it's about 10m from the water level, and I took a jump there when my legs stopped shaking long enough for me to take a step forward and jump. I was very proud of myself for doing this, even though the tender part of my body I landed on didn't thank me for it... and remained an embarrassing deep red for the next half-hour or so.

Cenote Ik Kil

Le cenote Ik Kil, à environ 3km de Chichen Itza (entrée 4€) est situé dans un joli parc naturel encadré de bougainvillées. Ce cenote est à ciel ouvert et a ét& aménagé en lieu de baignade naturel.

  Il y fait frais mais l'eau est bonne! Comme on peut l'apercevoir sur les photos, à droite dans le puits naturel, il y a une sorte de promontoire dans la roche, environ 10m au dessus de l'eau. J'ai sauté de là! Je n'en suis pas peu fière, parce que ça n'a pas été facile, j'ai dû attendre que mes jambes arrêtent de trembler pour pouvoir prendre mon élan et sauter (disons que tout mon corps tremblait dès que je regardais en bas...) - j'ai atterri sur la partie la plus charnue de mon anatomie, ce qui m'a laissé de belles traces rouges pour la demi-heure qui a suivi (douloureux surtout pour mon amour-propre, enfin, ça piquait un peu quand même!).
